About the Role
A specialty real estate private equity firm, seeks to hire a ESG - head in our New York headquarters to collaborate with stakeholders across The Firm (including the Compliance, Investments, Portfolio & Asset Management, Human Resources, IT and Investor Relations teams) to identify opportunities to leverage the The Firm team in an effort to amplify the impact of its ESG program and will manage, implement, and communicate a successful ESG program across our global portfolio of holdings. The successful candidate will have the ability to think strategically and translate research and insights into viable recommendations for action. This position will serve as a subject matter expert for environmental and social impact by assessing emerging trends, staying current on environmental and social programs across peer companies and communicating with and educating stakeholders of all types on topics relevant to our real estate business and associated portfolio companies.
Deploying the global ESG program across the US, UK and Europe partner portfolio companies by customizing the initiatives to each asset by property type / strategy
Developing metrics, analyzing and tracking progress and reporting on initiatives to internal and operating partner stakeholders
Communicating program strategy, goals, metrics and playbooks to various levels, from Executive Team to transactions team, portfolio managers to asset-level site management teams
Creating awareness and promoting engagement via educational communications and highlighting success stories and case studies
Collaborating on approaches to improve the environmental impact of the portfolio, reduce energy consumption, add value and improve tenant well-being
Developing and enhancing systems to providing required information to various teams responsible for data, performance improvement, procurement, and communication associated with energy and environmental performance
Establishing and maintaining sustainability partnerships with peers as well as sustainability leaders and influencers.
Remaining current and identify opportunity areas for ESG & Sustainability trends.
Serving as an ambassador for the firm at notable sustainability conferences and relevant industry events.
Requirements
The ideal candidate for this role will be an experienced financial professional with:
5-7 years of experience in a social impact-focused role with demonstrated success designing and leading a variety of programs
A BA or BS in Real Estate, Engineering, Sustainability or Environmental Science required; advanced degree preferred
Strong network within sustainability, environmental and other related communities required
Outstanding interpersonal & communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to work closely and communicate effectively with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, independent and results oriented with the ability to motivate and engage direct and indirect team members and stakeholders
Leadership role in managing complex projects
Proven track record of senior stakeholder management and influence resulting in measurable performance improvement
Ability to balance the importance of a sustainability position within a fast-paced investment setting
